Throw the book at me cuz I'm guilty (Pt 2)
To refresh your memory on the definition of a guilty pleasure:
something, such as a movie, television program, or piece of music, that one enjoys despite feeling that it is not generally held in high regard.
Yesterday in class, we discussed books and tv shows to which I have the pleasure of the guilt (that doesn't seem right but I'm going with it cuz it's my blog and I can). Today, we're moving on to movies and music.
Movies:
For the most part, I am not a huge movie fan; I hate going to the movie theater becuz if the movie isn't good, my butt will get numb. No really; it does. Maybe I should start a movie rating system like the movie was fair if only half a butt cheek got numb. Okay, I just got sidetracked there. So movies: I tend to watch them after they leave the theater unless it's a MUST SEE but those are few and far between. I do have a few guilty pleasure movies to share:
Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2: All hail Fat Amy! The entire cast of these movies is awesome but Rebel Wilson is pure perfection. If I see either of these are on cable, it's a must-watch.
Hard to Hold: Rick Springfield in all his mulleted glory, cheesy plot line and kick ass music. Nuff said.
Purple Rain: The acting is crappy but that music. Sweet Lord; I still believe it's the best soundtrack ever. And seeing parts of Minneapolis in the movie is just a bonus.
Steel Magnolias: Total chick flick that gave me one of my most favorite quotes to use:
I know I'm forgetting so many others so if I think of them, I'll do another blog about them.
So what are your guilty pleasures???

You've Got Mail: Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan before all the plastic surgery. So cute, so sweet.
Muriel's Wedding: If you like ABBA and Australian accents, you'll like this movie!
ELF: Holiday classic to be watched every Christmas season.
A Christmas Story: I hated this movie when it first came out and didn't watch it again til adulthood when it was totally relatable. We all have that one relative who would send us the worst gifts. Mine wasn't a bunny outfit; it was underwear with purple cows on it. And $1.
Music
Y'all know about my obsession with RS but there's so much more music in my life than just his music.
STYX: I love me some Styx and have been known to sing a couple of their tunes at karaoke (that's a whole other blog, believe me). I have a little crush on Tommy Shaw and one time, he liked a comment I made on the Styx Facebook page and I nearly fainted. I still believe Paradise Theater is a total classic album.
WHAM!/George Michael: I am proud to announce I know every single WHAM! song by heart. I know you're jealous. That music is some really good sh*t. And when Faith came out? That album rocked my world. When George passed away, I sobbed. He was such a talent and so much amazing music came from him.
Elton John: The first song I ever knew all the words to was Crocodile Rock. My very favorite Elton John song is Your Song and I get teary every time I hear it. I've been lucky enough to see Sir Elton in concert several times and the man brings it every time.
Queen: Let's be honest: Freddie Mercury was a rock god. That freaking voice. Thing is, the Queen songs I love the most are off the Highlander soundtrack. Do yourself a favor and listen to the song "Who Wants To Live Forever". AMAZEBALLS.
Prince: Is any reason necessary? I was on vacation alone in Florida the day he died and I cried for 2 solid days. Think of all the kick ass music we won't get the pleasure of hearing.
KISS: Stop judging me! Destroyer is an amazing album! And they are totally better with the make-up on!
Neil Diamond: I grew up on Neil's music and he is a true classic. And you know you sing along to "Sweet Caroline" so don't even try lying to me!
So what are your guilty pleasures???
Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not planning on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go (ah)
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah, yeah)
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
from the album "Make It Big"
WHAM!
